Hi

I've owned my 2000 2.0 L Mora Red individual Z3 for just over a year now. It is a fantastic colour and we always get comment whenever we are out. It was originally a UK car and imported into New Zealand in 2005 by a previous owner.

Have often wounded how many of this model were made and have found other Mora Red owners who have the same question. The answer is 80 cars.

BMW did not keep records of specific Individual models. They only listed information on the VIN record. The information that you get will depend on the VIN decode tool you use. Usually you get the following, which is the same for all individual models regardless of colour.

Colour: SONDERLACKIERUNG (490)
Upholstery: SONDERPOLSTERUNG (Z1XX)
S938 Individual series
S940 Special equipment BMW Individual (only on some cars)

The VIn decode tool https://www.mdecoder.com/ Provide full disclosure of the Individual model details. For the Mora cars it included the following

- Individual series Z3 for Zg 4x80 KA67.
- Variant 4

This means that there were 4 variants of individual cars produced for the UK at the same time. Each variant having 80 cars. They are:

Variant 1- Agean Blue
Variant 2- Velvert Blue
Variant 3- Cosmos Black VIN range of LG73260 to LG73360
Variant 4- Mora Red VIN range LG73370 to LG73455

The two photos attached are:
- A Mora Red Z3 so you know what colour we're on about.
- An individual model plate. 359/4 = 359 is the Mora Metallic colour code and 4 is the variant code (4, KA67) for ECRU (cream colour) inserts etc.

Full analysis of the BMW VIN registry via VIN decode tools has shown that there were 80 Mora Red Z3's delivered to UK and Ireland and have production dates from 17 to 28 April 2000. The Mora Red VIN range is LG73370 to LG73455. There are 6 VIN's in that sequence that are not individual model cars. All of the Mora Red Z3's went through the plant at the same time. The Mora Red VIN range being boarded by the Cosmosschwarz Individual Z3 (earlier VIN numbers) and a run of Velvert Blue Individual models (later VIN numbers). There may have been other Mora Red runs or individual cars manufactured as one off's. Adding confirmed Mora Red Z3's to the registry will help identify if this is the case.

Below is the Mora Red Registry. All the following cars are 2000 2.0 L Mora Red Individual right hand drive Z3's that originated in the UK and are still in the UK unless noted otherwise.

VIN Production Date
LG73376 19/4/2000
LG73381 18/4/2000
LG73382 18/4/2000
LG73383 18/4/2000 Murray's car now in New Zealand
LG73391 18/4/2000
LG73398 18/4/2000
LG73399 18/4/2000
LG73404 18/4/2000
LG73406 18/4/2000
LG73419 19/4/2000
LG73420 19/4/2000
LG73422 20/4/2000
LG73429 20/4/2000
LG73430 20/4/2000
LG73432 20/4/2000
LG73434 20/4/2000
LG73435 20/4/2000
LG73437
LG73445 17/4/2000
LG73449 28/4/2000
LG73451 28/4/2000

Extra information gathered included photos, Registration plate numbers and current owner data. I did not feel that it was appropriate to share this extra information. The above will allow identification of additional cars without getting into information disclosure problems.

I'll endeavor to keep this first post updated with new information as it comes to hand.

Regards

Murray

Well done on finding 8 already .:thumbsup:
I have looked a few times for mine but have yet to see another individual dakar :( all the dakars on here are either 2.2 sports or a 3.0 sport or a z3m but none have the individual plate on the inner wing .

@Stevo7682 Thank you. There is a 1.9 L Dakar individual (have photo of plate) in one of the car clubs here. It was a Jap import.

We owned a Mora Red 2L Individual, as you can see from our avatar & our signature picture at the bottom of this post, like you we were showered with compliments wherever we went! We very reluctantly parted with her in 2015. selling her to another forum member @JackJabba (Carl Horner) We know of two others in the UK that we saw at Silverstone in 2012. The colour is very much admired in Z3 circles and as we nicknamed ours 'Mora' she was quite well know on this forum from the numerous events we took part in.

After Mora, we bought an E85 soft top Z4 in Montego Blue, but shortly afterwards progressed to a white twin top E89 which we still enjoy, having moved to the West Norfolk Coast the week after selling Mora, it's great for cruising along the coast in the sunshine:coolsteer)

Hi

Watching the forums etc and there are a range of numbers suggested , 6, 8, 80. Yesterday was a rare rainy summers day down here in New Zealand, so I spent the day on the computer, trolling forums, car for sale sites etc and found 8 confirmed different cars.

Below is the beginning of the Mora Red Registry. All the following cars are 2000 2.0 L Mora Red Individual right hand drive Z3's that originated in the UK and are still in the UK unless noted otherwise.

VIN Production Date
LG73376 19/4/2000
LG73383 18/4/2000 Murray's car now in New Zealand
LG73420 19/4/2000
LG73422 20/4/2000
LG73430 20/4/2000
LG73432 20/4/2000
LG73434 20/4/2000
LG73449 28/4/2000

To find 8 in the first day is fantastic. When you look at the VIN number range and the grouping of production dates, I suspect that there will be more out there to add to the register.

Extra information gathered included photos, Registration plate numbers and current owner data. I did not feel that it was appropriate to share this extra information. The above will allow identification of additional cars without getting into information disclosure problems.

@BMBabe My search net is wide and includes:
- 5 Z3 forums
- 5 Z3 FB pages
- 3 car for sale auto search updates

Have probably found all the easy ones that are owned by people active on forums. Now for the long term haul of picking up the ones that come up for sale and have new owners wanting to join forums and the Z3 community.
