It looks like this heritage railway GWSR are running diesels as the country side us so dry to avoid fires.

Nice pictures Steve your probably right about the diesels.
We were at classic show at Lowestoft today that was held on a foot ball field they couldn't allow any of the miniature traction engines to be ran due to the grass being like straw fire risk too great.

On the NYMR where we were yesterday the train is top’d with a steam loco and tail’d with a diesel.

Presumably it leaves the loco in lighter steam to reduce the exhaust/sparks but of course reduces the output.

I’m not too sure what happened to the idea of spark arresters.
