A huge thank you to @pgunter , @Oldguysrule , @Bozzy [Paul & Nik, Trevor & Toni and Steve & Amy] for joining us at Mint Towers for a weekend of chat/food/drink/banter/laughter and driving a couple of the Mints' Peak District Cruises.
The weekend kicked off on Friday night when Paul & Nik and Trev & Toni arrived for a well earned cup of tea and a chat about the long traffic laden trip up North.
After a good nights sleep, bacon breakfast rolls were provided by @Mrs Mint [Pauline] and teas/coffees by @Mint [Dave].
Our first drive out started with a drive through some lovely Staffordshire villages, arriving at our first coffee stop in Brailsford. This is where @Bozzy & @Amy H [Steve & Amy] met us as it was not too far from them. After tea/coffee and some tea cakes we set off to our lunch stop up by Hathersage, via Carsington Water, Bakewell and Grindleford.
After lunch saw us travel down to Tideswell then along some of my favourite driving roads by Chelmorton and Flagg, also being spotted by @Z Victor 1 going past the Miners Standard at Winster, eventually to our afternoon coffee stop just South of Ashbourne and then on to Mint Towers via filling up with fuel ready for Sundays run.
This year @Mint provided Fusilli Bolognaise and @Mrs Mint some of her famous apple crumble all of which was washed down with a glass (or two) of wine/beer/Guiness/lemonade.
Up early again on Sunday and a similar brekky to Saturday but with two extra mouths to feed as Steve & Amy stayed here on Sat night.
A different route to Saturday with Morning coffee at The Yonderman Cafe which was extremely busy with loads of bikes to drool over. Our route took us via Uttoxeter, Rocester, Wooton, Warslow and Millers Dale. After tea/coffee we headed North via Snake Pass and Woodhead Reservoir to a (very windy) photo stop at the summit of Holme Moss. Then onto the Oil Can Cafe for our lunch stop and a mooch around looking at the cars and the motoring memorabilia. After leaving we passed Winscar Reservoir and down the Strines to Ladybower reservoir before stopping for afternoon coffee at Chatsworth Kitchen. Then back to Mint Towers before going out for a curry which finished off the weekend very well.
After a break of four years, yep 2019 was the last one, thanks to Mr Covid, it has been an absolutely superb weekend.
Great company, great laughs, great roads, great food and drink and pretty good weather, we had our tops down all weekend. What more could you ask for...
We must do it again sometime...……………………..
A few pics from me:
Well.........................it wouldn't be a Mints Cruise without some mud and cow s**t
Ready for the off on Sunday...
A windy Holme Moss Summit...
We couldn't even get four in line
'till the next one...
