I prefer the looks of the Fiat version. I'm sure the MX5 is a great little car to drive, but I'm not too keen on the new look. A chap near me has one of the new Fiat 124 s, based on the MX5 , and it looks really neat.

Like you though, prefer the Zed :)
Did a whole day in an MX5 last year on the Limborit, must have been in the car for 12 hours all told.
By the time I got home I was knackered.
Never had that problem in a Z.
The MX5 is for going shopping in, not touring....

Can't debate with you on that Mike, never sat in one. The Zed is uber comfy on long distance though.

My mate Rob, who was driving, is 6ft and a bit and hardly fitted in it, he had to sit at a spastic angle to get to the pedals.
When it started raining, he could reach back from his seat and pull the roof up.
I was really happy when we gave the car back to the owner in Amsterdam and got in Rob's Mercedes van, what a relief those seats were.

Haven't driven one of the new MX5 s, but the earlier ones were great for zipping around country lanes. I never enjoyed travelling any distances in my MX5, but I have no problem in the zed. They are totally different animals.
My only moan about the zeds is the same as all manual BMW s of the time, the relatively awful gear change 1st, 2nd and into 3rd. Above that OK, but why couldn't BM produce a slick gear change like the Japanese. I had a couple of 2.8 Toyota Supras years ago, 2.8 straight six rear wheel drive, like a zed ,but the gear change and drive train was so much smoother.
