I've broken this topic off from @BMBabe's Project Panther thread as it's really interesting in it's own right. Pictures pretty much say it all. We decided to take the headlights out as everything is easier on a bench!

We used the Meguiars Headlight Restoration Kit which is about £20. There is easily enough supplied in the kit to do 2 possible three cars with it making it even better value.

Before pictures of the headlights. You can see how bad they had got, and in desperate need of attention.

The process involves wet sanding the lenses using water and supplied sanding pads. They are 2 inch square pads, with a different grade on either side. Sand with one, wipe clean then sand with the other side.

Next the Meguiars Plast-RX is applied to the lenses and buffed with the supplied buffing pad in a cordless drill.

The result after much buffing by @Lee ...

It would be worth putting some lamin-x on to protect the surface and keep the shine, trouble with sanding it down is it exposes s porous layer beneath the moulded "A" surface, these pores will be small now you have polished but will still hold dirt and grime after time, the lamin-x should prevent this.

Keep up the good work guys, your welcome round mine anytime to help me

To answer your question, The first headlight i did three times over so took me around 20mins. The second headlight i went heavier with the sandpaper so only went through the process once. You can easily do both headlights in 30mins-45mins.

We men all have one once with pledge our love to one forever! And yet it is the female population that walk around with their piercings and hoops for all to see whereas ours are invisible. Go figure! JIM
