There were some pretty good buys there.
I think there was an Arnage that went for 17k....that's a considerable loss.
Also a Carrera 4 that had apparently had serious money just spent, went for £9....

I follow Manor Park Classics auctions on YouTube ~ https://www.youtube.com/@manorparkclassics5420
They usually put up preview videos a few days before the auction to give you a heads-up

Last sale, quite a few interesting BMWs and these 2 Zeds

R Reg Z3M + H/Top £12500 (provisional) ~ https://www.youtube.com/live/dagMSifaBIE?si=cXw5653iNrpi4KbP&t=6330

W reg 2,8 £4100 ~ https://www.youtube.com/live/dagMSifaBIE?si=rzSzURrsbQaOcrql&t=13420

So quite a bit of difference between the OP's 2.8 value and the MP one!

£10k (with fees) is an awful lot for a 2.8 Z3 TBH. It needs to be 'collector's grade' for that.
Especially as the car market in general is pretty flat.
The days of getting a bargain at auction seem to be long gone. I do wonder whether the Mathewson's 'fame' has any bearing on selling prices.
There is an auction house near me who do similar 'classic' auctions every other month. They have similar cars to Mathewsons but their cars seem to sell for considerably less. Difficult to judge as every car is different, I suppose.

Still...makes my 50k mile, rust free, 3 litre look like an absolute bargain, I suppose

Mathewson added tax bumps up the price.

I am more than happy to sell my 2.8 for £9000, just ignore the low mileage bit 😂

What was the mileage on the £9k one? If it was VERY low then it's just a 'collection' car, start using it and bang goes the value. I would prefer one to drive rather than just look at.

Agree. There is a silver 2.0 Z3 that lives near me. It’s under cover outside all year apart from MOT day. It’s got less than 8k miles on the clock, but why? It’s never going to be worth more than £10, and even then, it’s not ULEZ and not a special edition. Better to get the enjoyment out of it yourself I think.

Low mileage cars are highly overestimated. Time takes its toll no matter the mileage. unless its going to be a garage queen (and why should it be) a low mileage one has terrible issues with brittle plastics, perished hoses etc. i know because I was on that wagon and never going back again. well maintained and driven ones are the safest purchases.

On the other hand, in UK low mileage must also be low to no rust, so maybe there is a point there…
