With Tom’s Zed very nearing the end of the build we took in the next Zed. This Zed is a very unique Individual Orinoco with the finest 2.8 engine . What makes this even more unique is the fact it’s a 1998 model and has the later M52TUB28 engine, the vin even confirms its correct from factory. She had a respray last year and now ready for a front to back refresh.

Surprising how blue the Orinoco comes across in photographs - has to be one of the most unusual colours for the Z3 and its a shame they didn't follow it through in to the Z4 line up. Appreciate it's similar in nature to Ruby & Carbon Black but don't believe they persisted the theme with any lighter colours than Black.
Either way one things for sure - as these cars get rarer the Individual Edition versions will get even rarerer ;) so well worth the investment :thumbsup:

So today we decided to make a start and look at what’s ahead on Mary. She’s very crispy round the edges underneath nothing out of the ordinary for us.

Confirmation of completely tired beam bushes. You can see the bush sat down on the plate when the gap should be big enough to fit a finger.

Wow looks like it's been parked in the sea! Wasn't aware Watford was on the coast these days - that's global warming & rising sea levels caused by these BMW i6 engine's!

Nice big juicy update. Everyone smashed it out the park today, so much work got done. Some points we had 6 people working on her.

First up we removed the rear subframe.

The strip down is complete. Once the front subframe comes back we can then remove the gearbox for an overhaul with a fresh clutch and flywheel. Stay tuned ;)

Nice big juicy update: I took receipt of all the powdercoated bits Monday whilst the last of the parts arrived this week. Todays job was to build the front end.

Unwrapping the first key item, front subframe

Old engine mounts removed, these broke in two on removal.

whilst I got this fitted the guys built the front shocks. We noticed these springs were unusually long so will see how she sits at the end.

with all the big bits ready to assemble it didn’t take long to come together.

then all buttoned together. We ordered all new nuts & Bolts for this stage as the others were too far gone.

least with the front all bolted together we can removed the gearbox. We also did a couple of jobs ready for next week when the rear end goes in. Subframe bushes fitted and rear shock assembly’s built.
