CANCELED.
With some interest being shown for a visit to the Mach Loop to watch the low flying aircraft I thought I would try to arrange something for this summer.
Unfortunately the flying normally only takes place Monday to Friday and even then it is a Hit or Miss situation due to weather and operational schedules, so until they show up it is never 100% sure that it will happen, and there are not a lot parking places where we can get the best view.
So was thinking of making a long weekend of it for those able to do a Friday:
The date in mind will be 15th July
Friday 15th July:
Meet in Oswesrty at around 09:00am and then a run through the Tanant Valley to Bala, over Hell Fire Pass (Bwlch Y Groes) and on to the Mach Loop for around midday, Followed with a Lunch stop and then returning to the Llangollen area for a stop over with time for a walk around Llangollen and a visit and ride if you want on the steam trains down the Dee Valley,
I can recommend hotels if needed.
Saturday 16th July:
Meet at the Ponderosa Café on the Horse Shoe Pass at 09:00am.
10:00am Head for the EVO for a quick blast to clear the cobwebs away, then a visit Surf Snowdonia for a coffee break, Then a drive through the Ogwen Valley to Caernarfon up to Llanberis and a visit to Electric Mountain, up the Llanberis pass and down the Nant-Gwynant valley to Beddgelert then on to Porthmadog, where we will say goodbye to those wishing to head for home. We will be stopping at Black Rock Sand. (Lunch stop to be advised)
For those wanting to extend the weekend until Sunday How about a night of camping? Not for everyone I know but for the more adventurous! This will include a chance for a drive on the Beach and a Beach photo shoot, followed by a BBQ on the campsite at Black Rock Sands, and a visit to the local Irish Bar for some entertainment and refreshments or maybe a few drinks around the campfire. There are a number of B&B’s in the area if you don’t want to do the camping bit, and I can arrange a shuttle from the campsite to the B&B so you can enjoy the evening. If you don't have camping equipment I can arrange this as well with some notice.
Obviously this is dependant on the weather.
Those wanting to do just the one day are more than welcome to come along on the Friday or Saturday.
