Been meaning to do a little write up on replacing the CCV on the 2.2. This CCV system is the same for the 2.2 and 3.0 both being the M54 variant. The reason for doing this replacement is a faulty or blocked CCV can cause oil usage issues. At the time the 2.2 used about a 1L of oil every month only doing sub 1000 miles.

I bought the replacement kit from EBay for 79.99 and that came with all the new pipes and O-rings needed.

I took my time with this job taking photos and making notes and it took me 3-4 hours. No specialist tools needed.

First things first start removing the inlet cover and remove the air box with its pipework up to the throttle body and inlet manifold

Once you have all those bits removed you will need to move some of the wiring over. Just undo the bracket and push it to one side. Some of the connections will need to be undone so you can get enough slack.

Now you have everything out the way you will be able the see the CCV unit tucked under the inlet manifold right up next to the throttle body.

Two Torx bolts hold it in place. there's also three connections to the ccv unit to disconnect (I ended up cutting the old hoses)

1) bottom hose goes to the sump (oil return line) this is just a push fit hose

2) One line goes left up to the rocker cover at the front. (oil/vacuum supply)

3) the other goes up and plugs into the inlet manifold (vacuum)

Once removed you'll have a nice gap

Good way to see the routes is assemble the ccv by hand before

Fit the CCV unit first then slide through the hoses, warm the ends up so they clip into place, it was winter when I did this and found the plastic tough. I think you can get away with fitting the top hose first. I didn't get a photo of the line that runs down the length of the manifold but its obvious once you start removing the main hose from the top of the CCV.

Once your happy all the hoses have seated correctly go for the re assembly. I was also curious to see the inside of the old CCV and found it to be quite cruddy hindering its operation.

The big question, has it cured the oil usage problem? not completely but it has reduced the oil consumption a lot. I'm still chasing the problem and it seems to be getting less and less. I have since changed the rocker cover gasket as well.

Hope this helps.

This will come in handy when I try to resurrect my Zed. The CVV pipework on a 2.8 is a bit simpler than on the 2.2, but it's still hidden away in the same position.
