Well I think its what I need, does the 2.2 have the D shape ports and the bigger DISA, I am planning on doint the VANOS seals over the next few weeks and thought I may as well do the inlet conversion whilst I'm at it.

No Sean I think the 2.2 is m52 tu,but the the 3.0 is the m54, so you'll be fitting an m54 manifold on to your block, then fitting your old throttle body which is m52 tu ,that's why you need m54 > m52 tu adaptor plate iff that make sense ,iff you give me an hour il find one I've got kicking around in the Zed shed.
Jimmy.

Hi Sean

Yes the M54B22 inlet manifold and DISA is the same one used on all M54 engines up to the M54B25. The M54B30 has a larger manifold and DISA yet again.

The Ebay seller Bimmertune has the best throttle body adapter. It looks like he is out of stock at the moment. Send him a message to see when the new stock is due.

Regards

Murray

I have fitted the M54B25 on my 2.8 M52tu. It has a bigger DISA and it does indeed have the full D shaped ports.

It has made a big difference to my car, however I bought it not knowing the full details for my particular engine, so I have now bought the M54B3.0 manifold, which has an even bigger DISA.

When I get round to fitting it, I will be selling the M54B25 version and throttle body adaptor.
If you are interested at the time I will get in touch
probably be when the weather starts warming up a bit though.

Make sure it's fitted before Santa Pod, apparently it held you back this year

Hi Sean

A couple of thing to keep in mind:
- You have a M52TUB20 engine, you are fitting a manifold from a M54B22, or M54B25, they are the same. The right adapter plate is M54B25>M52TU

- Yes a M54B30 manifold will most likely be an overkill on a 2.0 L Z3, but it is the correct manifold for the M52TUB28. If you can get one and the right adapter plate (M54B30>M52TU) at the right price, then give it a go.

- There are 3 sizes of DISA, Small on the M52TUB engines, medium on the M54B22 and M54B25 engines and large on the M54B30 engine. Make sure you get the right one for your new manifold. Sorry, don't have the part numbers on hand.

Regards

Murray

It will be interesting to see the results of this mod on a 2.0L. As standard, it uses the same size intake, exhaust and disa as the 2.8 (TU), so you would think it would already be maxed out airflow wise.

@Sean d - the part numbers for the 3.0L are 11617525753 - intake 11617544805 - Disa.

Devon Z did this mod with his 2.ol and he said it was night and day, thanks for the part numbers
