Hi - my Zed has developed a leak from oil filter to engine gasket and I have ordered replacement plus replacement O rings for bush/NRV as recommended in TIS parts refer to 5&6 on
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=CH72&mospid=48079&btnr=11_1568&hg=11&fg=30&hl=5
In a conversation with somebody who has recently done the job he said this about part 4
"Interestingly, the little valve/bush we removed had no o-rings on it at all and there weren't any obvious little grooves to contain them. I wonder whether there has been some sort of design update and hence the chap at my local BMW parts department being very proactive in recommending the complete new bush/valve plus o-rings,"
Can anybody else who has done this job comment on what they found or offer other advice?

I have had no need Jonco, but in my experience of working on these cars it is best to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. I would buy them, and when you take it apart you will see exactly what goes where or if indeed modified and not needed.

Hope that helps?

Thanks Rich,
I was going to order the bush anyway - shouldn't break the bank;).
Will be interesting to see how it functions - will post some pics when I get around to the job.
Cheers
Colin

UPDATE information for [USERGROUP=12]@M44 Massive[/USERGROUP] benefit.

Actual re-joint is straightforward - the pain is removing the alternator, alternator cradle, air box and PAS reservoir to get at it.
Old joint was brittle and broke up as removed - bush O rings were well baked but still intact - hardly surprising after 17 years and 73k miles Some sludge evident in filter housing.
