M43 to M44 cam pos sensor issues

hello, i currently own a 2000 bmw e36 316i with the M43B19 engine and BMS46 ECU.

I am swapping the SOHC to a DOHC using an M44B19 donor engine to maintain the M43 bottom-end and M44 top-end.

I have fully rebuilt the engine and up to the wiring harness.

The cam position sensor and sensor pickup plate on the M43TU and M44TU are completely different. Would the M43 sensor + M44 sensor pickup plate work? I read that the ECU wouldn't understand the pick up plate pattern and cause issues but those examples were with the OB1 M43's (B16, B18).

What are my options here?

From what i've gathered, my only two options are to either go standalone ECU but will cost $2000+ easily or a piggyback ECU but have not seen it done.
