Anyone got some thoughts on a new stereo for an Mcoupe?
Was fitted with the full HK job with sub originally (which I still and I changed the head about 10 years ago but need BT and something that runs the sub which the current Alpine never has.

I’m looking at the new Blaupunkt Bremen 46 which looks a great match aesthetically but don’t want same prob as the Alpine.

Someone has suggested refitting the original and getting a BT module but not really into putting a 20 year old stereo back into the old girl tbh.
Cheers,

D.

Mine (also fully laden with the HK audio) came with a very expensive Sony unit installed that had Bluetooth etc. Sounded awful and looked totally out of place.
I bought an original CD43 unit and installed it - sound quality was night & day better than the Sony unit. But of course that doesn't fix the lack of Bluetooth.

So I picked up an aftermarket Bluetooth module from ebay (plugs into the cd changer socket and mimics a changer) and got a brodit phone mount so that the phone is available to operate on the dash - now can stream spotify, stream BBC Sounds & other DAB stations, use it as my sat nav, play audio from the phone - all with fantastic audio quality from a quality headunit which looks totally "factory".

Don't think you'll get the sound quality with any aftermarket unit nor will it look right in a classic like the M Coupe.

I’ve also got a CD43 and looking to do the same as you have. What Bluetooth module did you use (or link?), have you installed it inside the dash or outside, and any issues/regrets so far?

Thanks!

It's similar to, if not the same as one of these:

Had it in the car about 18 months now - all tucked away behind the dash except that I use the USB port to charge my phone so I have the cable coming out the passenger side of the centre console and plugging into a wireless charger dock.

No regrets whatsoever - works flawlessly every time - love that I can skip tracks on the radio which I can do by feel rather than having to look at the screen on my phone.

Perfect, that’s the exact one I was looking at. Only thing I couldn’t figure out is what the dip switch on the side of the module is for, and whether it needs to be accessible? Like you, I’d prefer having the unit inside the dash out of sight, and just USB and AUX cords accessible (ideally with plugs mounted in one of the empty switch cover plates if I can figure out how to do that..)

Can't recall what the dip switches were for (think it's covered in the install instructions) - but once set they don't need to be changed again. I've certainly never touched them since!
