Well, after changing the MAF, the car ran a lot sweeter, then cold start this morning and it ran like a bag of bolts until it was hot then ran ok.
So still something not right. Took MAF off ran better but throttle response was slower. Couldn't hear anything strange..... Took of the right cover on top of the engine and lo and behold, the crank case breather was split right up and had collapsed onwards with the rubber being perished
Took it off completely car stopped, re-connected a new breather hose and it started to sing
Replaced hose put cover back on and reconnected MAF, problem solved

Happy chappy and for me that knows jack about mechanics, I fell strangely all warm inside with a sense of satisfaction lol
So remember before you replace a mag, please check here first, it would have saved me a fortune lol.
