Lowering Spring fitted at the Zed Shed

Firstly a big thank to @Lee for giving up his evening to fit my 30mm Eibach Prokit Lowering Spring
I arrived at Lee's before he managed to get home from work and as soon as he did the garaged door was opened and Lee was straight on the job.

While I was there Lee was good enough to check why I had a noise driving as tho something was rubbing.
What was found was one of the little springs that hold the hand brake shoe to my corroded disc back plate had pulled through it's hole. There was no time to replace the back plate so a temporary fix was applied
You can clearly see the difference on the head of the spring

During the installation @Shortie_gal - Sam arrived home from work driving her lovely Z3 and as always it was nice to be able to spend some time with Sam.
Sam sorry for steeling your evening with Lee

Once the job was done Lee took me for a spin in my Z3 and I'm sure he was trying to roll my car I simply could believe my car wasn't on rails.
Lee did say how smooth my gear box was so I'm guessing this is because @NODZED - Niall replaced my gear box oil also the diff oil was replaced at the same time

Since using the Zed Shed my Z3 isn't the car I purchased, it's sooo much better.

Looks great mate the stance is loads better now the arch gap has gone.As every good work by @Lee the back plates really have seen better days haven't they! Next job on the list i suppose.

I have the back plates so this mornings job is to check out some local garages to find out the damage to my wallet =))

Its not the easiest job on the rear i read that you can cut them but its still a lot of bend in my eyes to get them in place .

Nice job, lowered Zed just looks much better! I have the same Eibach springs , together with Bilstein shocks (was a set). My Zed came only 10mm down, because it has M suspension.
Rear from top wheel arch 64.3 to 63.9cm
and front 64.8 to 63.8cm
It might have come down a bit more now, I did it 7 months ago. Bought them in the Netherlands for Euro 676, which is now £565.76, but was then (before brexit) £498. The set came to me in the container from Dutch immigrants to New Zealand. Means no import duty :)

All my old shocks were totally wasted, 60K, 16 years old.

Don't forget to do a wheel alignment as your camber will increase.

The Bilsteins are quite stiff must I say.

Seriously considering renewing the shocks and springs on mine after finding it likes to go sideways when you push on a bit :nailbiting:.

The old girl looks sweet but can't see me pushing her as hard as Lee did as I would have to change my boxers more often =))

The old girl looks sweet but can't see me pushing her as hard as Lee did as I would have to change my boxers more often =))

Just got back from a little photo shoot followed by a rag it round drive.
Not as harsh as I thought it would be and she sure goes island proper nice.

That's good to know it just worries me a bit as I don't want to ruin the ride if i do mine.

I guess the answer there mate is buy your springs fit them and if you don't like your ride sell them on

@Low Rider , living up to the name now Steve, looks very nice mate. Re the back plates, IF the only point of problem is the location of the hold down pins and springs there is a very easy, permanent solution. You can open out the hole in the back plate to 4mm and use a 4mm x 30mm screw and two washers and a Nyloc nut in place of the original pin. You use the original spring.

Thanks for that info but that's what Lee has done.
As I had the back plates I might as well crack on and get them fitted as the old ones are proper shot
