Dear Friends,
I can not find a post catalytic O2 sensor for my 1997 BMW Z3 M44. If I check OBD scan tool, I saw B1S2 voltage around 0.435 and believe it should be somewhere. I checked the BMW parts manual and Post O2 sensor should be after Catalytic converter. For your reference, I attached the picture for it.

If the sensor is not there then scan tool must be at fault displaying data from somewhere else, maybe BMW INPA would display correctly.

Thanks! I agree with you. It should be a fault data.

I think the post cat was for US market only due to different emissions regulations. There have been previous posts on this, which I cannot find at moment, but they refer to a real.oem error.
Edit - looks like it has been corrected - part 9 is post-cat and is not included in UK version https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=CH72-EUR---Z3-BMW-Z3 1.9&diagId=18_0307
Thanks! Mine is Japanese market. Additional question. If I buy a US market catalytic converter, can I just put unused old o2 sensor in a post cat hole?

You would need to put a blanking plug in it, shouldn't think there is wiring on it for a post cat sensor as it wasn't fitted to your model. No point in putting a working sensor in there to do nothing. Blanking plugs available on ebay and Amazon, not sure of the thread size so check you order the correct size.

Thanks for your advice! Since I have a faulty O2 sensor, does it work as plug?

Yes you could use the bad sensor as a plug you will know its acting as a plug but would confuse a later owner of your car if you sold it when they find an unconnected sensor and no loom wiring for it.
