Lincolnshire Deer

Same has been nonsense has been mooted for the Forest of Dean to control wild boar and deer, thing is what do you then introduce to control the wolves?

In germany every village has an active shooting club (licenced to serve booze) where they do a lot of shooting, drinking and then some more shooting etc etc. Many of the members just shoot on the ranges but a lot do actively hunt. A lot.

I've still hit one or two deer with me car. Make a mess of your grill they do.

Even used deer as an excuse once after misjuding a bend and ending up in a ditch. "Swerved to miss a deer officer".

I wonder if there are a lot of three year olds in the herd. Teenagers being naughty - quelle surprise.

The reason I say this is that there were loads of deer roaming free during lockdown. I was very lucky to be classed as an essential worker and was driving the empty roads around Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, Rutland and Derbyshire. More than once I came round a corner to find a deer lying in the road, sleeping or resting. They seemed to be loving life without cars :) .

If ever you're driving in Botswana between towns (why would you), avoid doing it at night. They have a problem with stray donkeys that like to sleep on the tarmac because its warm. Pitch black, no street lights, grey donkey asleep on grey tarmac . . .

I live in the centre of Spalding and often see deer (mainly Roe) wandering down the street in the early Spring (birthing season) and Autumn (rutting season).

I was on the phone to a mate earlier today; he lives in the sticks about 10 miles south of here. He said there were four Muntjacs wandering around his garden at 11am.

There are many Muntjack around here. This was 7 years ago, soon after I got my E85 Z4. Coming out of Collingham, Notts. towards the A46 Lincoln to Newark road.

Stop the video at 2.01 and see what happens. They have no road sense.

Oh deer, oh deer, oh deer 😂 I live in a conservation area and an area also which has a large range complex used by the military (A little ironic that)!

However, as the area is completely rural and see's very little human traffic, there are large numbers of Deer, wild Boar and Wolves. I have had several close encounters with all the aforementioned when out walking my dogs and driving my car, mainly with Deer and Boar though. As Duncodin mentioned, the Germans are big into thier shooting and pay quite a lot to do it, it helps keep the numbers down, but it will never be enough. Culling may well be the way forward in the UK if its properly controlled and selective. As for the Wolves, when they started to return naturally to this area, most people were quite pleased but over the years that feeling has started to change, more so with the animal farming community. Wolves will take livestock, thier opportunist and if its an easy meal, why not. There is now discussion that wolves who continually take livestock may well be shot.

A bloke was offered 8 Venison legs for 50 quid. Is that 2 dear?
