Oh deer, oh deer, oh deer
I live in a conservation area and an area also which has a large range complex used by the military (A little ironic that)!
However, as the area is completely rural and see's very little human traffic, there are large numbers of Deer, wild Boar and Wolves. I have had several close encounters with all the aforementioned when out walking my dogs and driving my car, mainly with Deer and Boar though. As Duncodin mentioned, the Germans are big into thier shooting and pay quite a lot to do it, it helps keep the numbers down, but it will never be enough. Culling may well be the way forward in the UK if its properly controlled and selective. As for the Wolves, when they started to return naturally to this area, most people were quite pleased but over the years that feeling has started to change, more so with the animal farming community. Wolves will take livestock, thier opportunist and if its an easy meal, why not. There is now discussion that wolves who continually take livestock may well be shot.
