Irma crushed a Z down the Keys and the house/garage was sitting on top of it. Don't recall it being an ///M though.

I lived in the Caribbean for years and a good part of why I left was the hurricanes.

Spending 36 hours without a chance of getting out while a storm flattens your island is not fun. Was working for the power company on Cayman in 2004 when Ivan visited. My house stayed standing unlike my neighbors. Didn't have water for two weeks or any power for two months.

We spent only one night waiting for Mathew to hit Florida 3 years ago. Luckily the storm veered out into the Atlantic at the last knocking and central Florida escaped the worst weather. All the same was not a nice experience.

Tony

ps. Hope Dennis doesn't turn out to be like this one.

I always found it amusing when people in Alabama and Florida said they couldn't understand how I could live in California with all the earthquakes...We had little shakes now and then but it was years between "the big ones". In Florida and the rest of the Gulf states, they had hurricanes EVERY year, sometimes more than one. AND tornadoes! Sorry folks, I'd rather take my chances on the earthquakes. They were not the reason I left California.

Well the railway underpass by me is yet again under water. Funny thing is that with a new development proposed. They want to lower the road to get bigger vehicles under it. Amazing as this flooding happens a few times a year.

Was out in the driving rain and wind screwing wooden battons on the roof of one of the Guinea Pig hutches, felt went AWOL. Other than that, so far so good.
