Hi all, my Zed has a leak in the boot. Came out last week and noticed the boot carpet was wet, looked underneath and there was about 4 inches of water in the battery well!

Had time to take the carpets out today and there's also water in the 2 wells on the left and right sides. While the carpets were out I decided to spray the hose pipe on it to see where the water is coming in. Couldn't see anything at all? Then I realised my car was parked the other way round than normal (usually the water will run towards the back as the drive slopes down where the boot is) so I turned the car around and sprayed again. See pics below:

Right at the back there is a steady stream of water and this is only after a few minutes of spraying. When I got this car I noticed the roof had obviously been replaced as the wiring is on the roof for an automatic roof when it doesn't have the switched or pump fitted. I can only presume it was fitted badly and this is where it's leaking from? I'm gutted about this now as I know how big a job it is to remove and re-fit it!

Any other suggestions before I head down this route?

Thanks

Could be a leak from your high level brake light, check that too.

Other regular cause of a boot leak is the aerial grommet. The majority of Z3s I look at have perished grommets.

@5harp3y did you apply the creeping crack cure from the inside with the top up?
Thanks Marvin

You need to work out if its the seal or the rear screen can you see it running in from inside the car ?
The fix shown seems to be worth a go ?

Roof undone slightly so that it sags at the back and then just dripped in from outside.

Has cured my leak
Thanks 5harp3y for the information. I will get it ordered tonight.

This bit here is easy between the roof outer and the body it just pulls out and pushes back in and just stops some of the water getting to the roof to body fixing below which is sticky butyl sealant.

Top seal

Did you pull out the big rubber seal first? If so how far?
and if not, which side of the seal did you drip the sealer, the hood side or the body side?
Thanks
