'Lateral trim' pre- & post-facelift compatibility?

Does anyone know if the facelift 'lateral trims' will fit in a pre-facelift car?

My (pre) car has the bog standard speakers and the rear ones are pretty weedy. I've already looked at upgrading the speakers but they're an odd size and are encased in a threaded sleeve which clamps them to the trim. It looks like these ones from a post-facelift will give me more options for upgrading the speakers, not to mention a better design for fitting and access!

I should see no reason why they would not fit, as I was planning to do the same or alternatively you could just dremel out your existing ones to fit larger speakers similar to what a member has done here

Rear speakers

Hi guys, whats the best place to mount speakers behind the seats as ive only got some in the footwell and the little tweeters in thw door ive bought some new alpine ones as a direct replacement to go in the footwell and a pair the same size to go in the rear just would like some advice on wheres...

But if you want your speakers stealth behind the grill some 4 1/2” shallow mounts will fit behind the facelift grills. There plenty of threads you can search for on the site that’s useful.
