Hi All,

Just posted in the newbie section.
So I am building a Kobra from my 2.8 1999 z3.
The car was built in Feb 1999 so i am led to believe it is the Twin vanous pre-facelift until someone tells me different.
So here's the beast as I bought it.

Stripped and with the rear end extension added.

Dining room with all the panels in it :)

I will post some progress a bit later

Cheers all

Replaced all the Z3 panels in my dining room with the Kobra kit :) and I am wondering why I am single =)) if i could drive my Harley up
the stairs to my house it would be next to the kit!

The kit consists of a front end and rear end as seen in the pic, a extension to the lower boot area, 2 sills 20180405_061952.jpg

and a couple of inserts so that I could move the petrol filler cap to the top of the wings, twin tank look!
So car striped out and ready for the first fitting which is the sills after cutting out the side vent louvre holes and holes for side repeaters

Did they just bolt on and were perfect? No!. First side took about 4 hours, bit of hole elongation and fetling and starting the bolting up from the bottom to the top. the second side after my experience of the first took me 15 minutes!

I kinda was wondering if you were maybe single after the picture of the Z panels in the dining room. ;) I think I soon would be =))
Good luck with the build and please keep us up to date mate. I wonder if someone will make something similar for the E85 Z4, ort maybe they already do....................

Tony.

Fitted the rear lights to the back end. you have to fit everything then take it off ready for paint!

Does my bum look big in this?
It's just sitting in place not fixed.
Unfortunately due to each z3 being a bit different due to manufacturing tolerances it's not just bolt on and it fits everywhere.
before its bolted down the petrol filler pipe and cap will need cutting out and extending to take the filler pipe to the top of the wing.

Apparently its best not to use an angle grinder to take this off! no idea why?

is it the Z3 having different tolerances or the fibreglass body kit that might not be 100% bob on ;)

I had forgotten that one Pete, thank you. Z8 lookalike.

It’s the kit mainly. It takes a bit of persuading in places. Getting the first sill/lower panel on is a pain.

Patience and a few power tools are your friend :)

Thanks for starting the thread @Markyb1964

The Z4 has been considered by the chaps that make the Kobra and Fezza 250swb kits but the roll bars being fixed don’t lend themselves to a ‘classic’ kit. And the interiors too modern I suppose.

I’d make another kit. I miss the build process. Driving my dirty black car is bloody fun though.

Need to find an exhaust specialist - was recommended LongLife Basingstoke ?

Twins do look good Mark. They facing right way ? In pics I have seen most caps facing 180 to your mocked up ones (just saying).

I went for the side filler the same as the standard Z3. Lazy I am
