I'm aiming this one towards Frankie and Jim, in no particular order, to see what "Joe public" thinks about this new fuel pipeline from Canada right down to the Gulf of Mexico. Aim is to make the Whole world less dependant on Arabian/Gulf oil? Will it make for cheaper petrol for us?:)

No, when the oil giants in this world all collude, (just like the bankers) why would it???????? Just make it easier for them to turn it off when dependency occurred. No????? :meh:
 
Even if it was cheaper, why would you sell it cheaper when you can sell at market price and enjoy a bigger margin, we're talking about business tycoons here not the Samaritans.........

You're right. They just ship it cheaper to increase their profits when selling at the same price as before.
 
From my side "they" have the whole winter a boycott, while no drop of petrol consumption:D.......and the full summer, not more than 700 litres.....:cool:

I get that part but I'm hopeful that if/when trouble flares up in the Middle East the Canadian oil won't automatically shoot up in price, never to come back down, as the Middle eastern oil does now? That's assuming we might end up as a customer.

Canada is only supplying crappy crude, the Americans are doing all the processing. Our argument here is why not allow Canadian workers to refine the crude and we can then sell the product ourselves and recover our economy, instead of passing off to America but the gov't is not listening as per usual. We are ruining our pristine land with fracking and leaving lakes of slug in it's place. All for the almighty oil companies and their profits. I could rant here for hours but will stop here and say that I don't like this at all!! JIM

They are only just gaining the tec to get the stuff out of the oil sands (tar sands) and Shale oil.
We have done loads of fracking (hydrofracturing) over here and had lots of mini earthquakes up on the German boarder damaging houses.



 
How close proximity are the fracking operations to the mini earthquakes Mike?

As you can see from the map Tony, very close and very all over the place.
