Key issue

Just changed the rubber buttons on my key which was easy but I have this small piece left over.
Any idea what it is and whereabouts in the key body does it go?

without that you cannot start the engine.

Got there in the end.

Yeah expensive if your wife throws it out..... Of course that's until you find it in a vase on the fireplace a year later because "oh that's right I thought it might be important forgot I put it in there", got myself a spare key now

That's exactly what some people do in conjunction with a start button.

And remove the steering lock.

Or cut the key down and leave it in the lock, keeping the steering lock off.

I like the idea of some of the mods on this forum but when I seriously consider any of them a voice inside me screams “Original is best!!! Leave it alone. They knew what they were doing when they designed this beautiful little car”.
