Just to say a quick hello to all and introduce myself.

I live in Spalding, South lincolnshire, which to those from Birmingham and above makes me a Southerner, and those from Watford and below makes me a Northerner. Don't ask me why, but thats where I'm geographically placed!

I fell in love with open top motoring when I was 18 after buying an old MGB. It was an awful car, but that thrill of driving with the roof down (when it actually went) never left me. I've owned quite a few different makes and ages of soft tops over the years and those include a Z3 and a Z4 which I thoroughly enjoyed. The thing about BMW's is that they do exactly what they say they will. My experience of other Marques has not always been that way!

Don't expect that I'll be on the forum very often or that I'll be at a lot of meetings, but I'll try and do what I can.

As requested a few pics that I took today of the car. If I get time in the next few days I'll load the Classic Car Weekly article in the Z8 section. That will depend though how these pics work below and how long it takes me!

Hope this works.

Regards,

Nick

Hi Nick,

Another warm welcome from me to the forum :ymhug:

Love the car and thanks for posting the pics, it looks fantastic. How long have you had it and have you covered many miles?

When in the UK I'm not that far from you so will have to keep a look out if over in the Spalding direction ;)

Cheers,
James

I've had the car nearly two years and covered only 3K miles. Not many I know, but it only comes out on sunny days and we don't get too many of those in the east!

The plan always has been to use it to tour on the continent, but we've not had so much spare time this last couple of years. In 2012 we've pencilled France into the diary for September. If we can manage that we'll be much better acquainted by the time we get home.

:)

Hello from me. Fully recommend cruising abroad. We did a run down western France through the Pyrenees and into Spain last May, we enjoyed it that much we are going through France into Spain and comming back through the Alps in August. Stunning experience never to be forgotten, a must for any zed owner.

Wow stunning car and thankyou so much for sharing those photo's.

I hope you manage to attend at least one of the cruises this year as it would be great to see another Z8 in the flesh, I have only ever seen 2 one in Poole Dorset when it pootled past me as my jaw dropped to the floor and the other at the Classic Car Show last year.

Welcome aboard so to speak and hope you enjoy the well healed banter on here. :)

Fantastic looking car. It's just like the one I saw in Bezier a couple of years ago. I have to say for those that haven't seen one in the flesh...I heard the car first, turned to see and WOW STUNNING. Owner was staying in same hotel and I went to have a chat and good look round. Can't wait to hear and see another

Amazing car, Nick, Welcome to the forum :ymhug:

Thanks for all your suggestions, when we were planning the North Norfolk Cruise last year.
You were right to opt for Burnham Overy Staithe Harbour, great photo opportunity and we managed to get a whole row to ourselves in the car park :D

Hope to meet you at ZFest. :-bd

Mike & Sandy,

We'll probably meet up in Norfolk at some stage. It's a lovely place and thats where the car goes when it comes out of the garage mostly. Overy Staithe is one of my favourite spots. The best walk in Norfolk is between there and Holkham. Beautiful! Also try walking out through the Yachts at Brancaster Staithe when the tides out (be careful! It needs to be OUT!). It's a real treat on a summers day.

Snoops, You might like the exhaust note on it..... It's straight through. Had both boxes removed. Has a bit of a throat to it!

:)

Once the catalytics warm up it's not as loud as you may think, but has a deep growl and a nice burble.

I am of the belief that a V8's not just for your own pleasure... It's for everyone else to enjoy as well!

Absolutely :D the ski boats have nice big V8s in them which have mufflers on the exhaust but when you run them out of the water with a hose pipe running through the cooling system they sound even nicer ;)

When in the UK I usually wake to the sound of a v8 passing by each day
