Tongue. We were occasionally given this when staying at College for my NHD. The trouble was, some of the portions still had the taste buds on. I'm not eating anything that can taste me back . . . Not then, not now, not in my lifetime, not ever . . .

Its where I discovered how satisfying a peanut butter and syrup sandwich could be in an emergency . . .

Agree with that Alex, my parents used to give me tongue with salad.:( But my worst nightmare is tripe, it's just like chewing an eraser and about as tasty, not to mention looking vile! My dad loved it with a little vinegar on for some reason best known to him. We had a dog called Rip at the time which would rip your hand off for anything remotely looking edible, but if my dad offered it any tripe it would run off and whine, enough said!:p

Faggots. Made by 'Brains' IIRC. Never knew what they were made of, just nasty meatballs.

The words brains and faggot were never a recipe for excitement come dinner time.

Also coleslaw. My late mother (God rest her) decided I liked coleslaw, so made me ham and coleslaw sandwiches everyday for around 5 years of school and early work years. Hot coleslaw soaked into white bread on a summer's day is NOT something I can now contemplate without gagging.

Funny you should talk about school lunch. My Mom used to make my brother and I cream cheese and jelly sandwiches at least twice a week. I always struggled to eat them. When I was older, perhaps in my 30's, I happened to ask her why she did this. She looked at me with the greatest surprise on you face and replied: "I thought you really loved them!" So much for communication............Frankie

For me it was preventative medicine, Cod Liver Oil. Yumm... Never ate fish again until I was in my Twenties, and then it was Birdseye fish fingers...
