It's a 97 2.8 5spd. I've owned a few sports cars: (2) each: supra, 300ZXtt (I spent years on TT.net, a great forum), mustang .... I like to know my car, so I'll be reading and asking questions. Bimmerforums doesn't seem to have much recent info on the Z3. I'm older, 65, and so far enjoying the size of the Z3 and how smooth the engine and tranny are. I'll be looking for handling improvements without spending a lot of money.

I'm in Phoenix, AZ, USA. Do you know about remotes? My car came with none, only 2 keys. As I read it, if I have the module behind my glovebox, I can buy an aftermarket remote fob, about $30, and program it.

Hi zellamay and Welcome
I have not succeeded in re programing my fob as the first one that I purchased was not the right one. The correct type I got from a kind member on this forum but I am waiting for my computer wizkid nephew (whos 54)
to travel down to Somerset again from Surrey when he gets time to re programme. There are fobs on Ebay for £30/40 BUT you must make sure that it is the right type.
I would suggest that you read up what Jonco put on this site about re programing these brick type fobs.
Sorry that I cant help further as I am still learning when I do know more I will post up my findings
If you look under tech Z3 immobiliser correct procedure you will see what has been told to me by other members
which have been very helpful.

Thank you. I'll ask you also: do you know whether I can just buy an aftermarket remote for my doors, if I have the module behind my glovebox?

As I said in my post there are some for sale on Ebay but check them out first to make sure that they are the right ones
