I am also an Energy utility/generation retiree and have a 3.0L Z3 in the stable. They are fun to drive and easy to work on. There is lots of great Z3 advice and help on hand at forums like this one.

Beware of the Z3 bug when it bites. Often a second one (roaster or coupe) will follow you home one day.
