Being 3 months into the year we've not taken anyone in for a refresh yet. Jim and I first spoke over one to many beers about which way to tackle his zed last year. So here we are with Jim's 22 year old 2.8 and it's safe to say he's got his moneys worth out that stealwork.
Jim & Grumps stopping for old man duties.
Morning breakfast roll call.
First things first a shuffle around to squeeze everyone into one corner. Followed by getting Jims zed on stands.
First things we tackle normally happen together, the arch liners come out while the spare wheel tray is dropped along with carrier which on this occasion had to be cut out. It was also clear someone had tried to help this zed and covered the underside in waxoil.
Everything else went smoothly until we got the beam side plates. There's only one car that's ever caused me this much fuss we had to cut the bolt heads off one side plate, always nerve racking using a grinder inch's away from a plastic fuel tank., Gaz thought he would test my nerve and smack the beam the other end with a hammer, don't think I've ever been so close to pooing my pants sober
Even with those issues it was still 2 and half hours to get the beam down.
At this point Grumps and Jim's southern Visa's were about to expire so they headed back up north. We stripped out the old beam down to component form. We found a surprising amount of corrosion.
Time for a coffee break, at this point it was 1pm. Quite a few arrived for a chin wag.
Part 2 Incoming..
