Now my dear wife's Z has had a bit of a shakedown, it's time to sort a few things out and plan a few modifications.
First off, the faded number plates are changed.
The 'worn brake pad' warning light came on, just after purchase. this, obviously is the first wrinkle to iron out.
I have changed the front disc pads, but they were not as worn as they first looked, and the wear sensor was intact, and the discs, 'rotors,' are fine.
While I was there, I painted the calipers red, they don't look bad through the blue wheels.
So. the warning light is still on.
The rear brakes are next on the list, first job, straight after Christmas.
The oil level warning light comes on for a second, just after starting, very occasionally. The oil level is fine, so a new sensor is ordered, I'll change the oil and filter at the same time.
The headlights are dire, I will look into doing something about them, maybe fit halo's as drl's, fit some decent bulbs? Hid's? I'll have a ponder.
I really must get some photo's posted, but the rain hasn't stopped.

Do not fit HID after market kits as it is now an MOT failure. Best bet is some Osram Night Breaker bulbs.

Tony.

Thanks Tony, I seem to remember HID's require headlight washers and self leveling mechanisms, What about LED's, I fitted one of these on my Chinese motorcycle, and it was brilliant, mind you, the standard one was a 35/35, Halogen was not an option because of the heat, the lamp reflector is plastic.
I haven't done anything to the outside yet, apart from fitting Wipac storm wiper blades, replacing the no. plates, painting the calipers, and giving it a good wash, a deep clean is on the list, but I need the weather to improve a bit first.
I am toying with changing the exhaust, it is very quiet at the moment, I don't know if it is standard, the tips are what looks like black enamel. I think alterations from the cat back, into a branch each side with two outlets each side, as are fitted to the Tribute kits, but not quite as long, I'll have to ponder this as well.
I think the spare wheel will have to go, and be replaced with a repair kit, I've seen the state that some of the spare wheels get in, so I don't think that will be any great loss.
I'll let SWMBO enjoy it for a bit, while I plot and plan.
My original plan was to fit a 250 SWB kit, but she says she likes it as is, we'll see, after the festival of speed !
I really will get some pics on asap.

Similar issues with LED lights in a standard headlight I'm afraid. Another Tony @yocky z3 2.0 has fitted a double twin outlet exhaust on his 2.0. Looks and sounds great.

Spent a happy hour today, fitting some dollop into the tyres.
The product I have gone with after much deliberation, was 'Puncturesafe', I bought it off the 'Bay, very easy to squeeze in through the valve hole. They have their own measurement sytem and 17" wheels need 16 'units' each, this meant 3 bottles were needed, with a bit left over for one of the bikes. There was a bit of wobble for a bit while the stuff warmed up and evened out inside the tyre, all is good now, so we'll see if it works.
With this stuff fitted, the spare wheel should be redundant, So... why not use the spare wheel housing for a LPG conversion, worth a thought....

Does the puncture safe make the tyres like run flats

To be clear, I have no affiliations with this stuff, it just looks like a good idea.
According to the bumph, this stuff coats the inside of the tyre with a polymer, then when a pointy thing, up to 6mm dia. punctures the tyre, it immediately seals the hole without losing pressure. If the hole is bigger, then it will struggle to form a complete seal, but allows the air out slower, thus keeping better control of the vehicle.
Many moons ago, I used to use stuff called OKO in my motorcycles, I have NEVER had a puncture in any of them. this stuff appears to be a more sophisticated update, so, I thought it would be better than SWMBO grappling with the spare. This stuff is on the 'bay for @ thirty quid for 3 bottles, so no massive investment to hopefully save me a heap of hassle.

They used to use OKO where I worked on such as grass cutter tyres where you would pick up thorns etc. Like an insurance against flats.

That's right, but it also worked well on motorcycles too, even at high speed, this stuff is a modern equivalent. have a look on their website, see what you think.

Now I can move my arm a bit now its healing a bit after the operation, I've fitted a few goodies, these are;-
A set of 'Angel eyes' all wired into a drl relay.
Footwell lights and puddle lights.
A stumpy ariel, the standard one nearly had my eye out when I was cleaning it.
A set of black plastic wheel nut covers.
Last weekend, I washed, clay barred, polished, and got a first coat of colinite wax on it, it looked beautiful, I hoped to get more coats on today then get some photo's, BUT, the tide was very high on Friday and slopped over the sea wall, unfortunately, SWIMBO drove through it, covering everything in salt, so I've been on hosepipe duty instead.

No, It appears I am SWIMBO'S car slave, She does take me out in the broomstick occasionally to ply me with good food and strong drink, all rounded off with, 'will you just...' or 'what do you think of.....' next day finds me with my head wedged somewhere in the innards of the broomstick!

Yesterday, we had a pair of new rear tyres fitted, the tread was low in the centres, (either too much pressure, or SWMBO has been drag racing!).
I examined the tyres when they came off the rims, one of them had two nails in it, no puncture, so it seems that gloop works, I must get a couple more bottles.

Had a fun day today.
I've changed the diff oil, it looked like honey, so, I think it had been changed not long before I got her.
I checked the gearbox oil, again, like honey, so I didn't change that.
I changed the engine oil and filter.
while the sump was empty, I fitted a new oil level sensor, as the warning light took a little while to go off.
To get to the sensor, the cross brace had to come off, so while it was off, a dose of wire wheel, a coat of galvanizing paint, (only because I had some left over from a job) and two coats of Ronseal metal paint in satin black.
While the paint dried, I replaced front and rear brake pad wear indicator wires, the damn light has now gone off.
Re-fit the cross brace.
All niggly lights now instantly out.
SWIMBO now owes me a steak dinner and beer.
