$1.57 a gallon! I thought we were doing well at 0.99p per litre!!! Mate of mine lives in Dubai and runs a 3.5 V6 ford edge. It costs him £17 to fill from empty. :(

Yes the fuel is very cheap at the moment :p
Good for some but not for others :)
I never thought it would ever go below £1 ;)
As normally when things go up in price they never come back down ;)

That's really cheap. I need a personal pipeline direct from the US.

I remember when it was about two shillings a gal. in the early 1950s when my much elder brothers hired a car to take us to the coast for the day, Austin Somerset's and Standard vanguards, and in the late 40s my elder brother had a OEC with a 700 JAP engine, worth a mint now as very few exist, only made up to about 1954/5 he then went over to a Triumph Speed twin and me in the early 1960s with a Triumph T110. Happy days

I remember many years ago that @Macca said that if petrol reached £1 a gallon then we would have to get rid of the car !!! Now we have 3 !!!

Don't forget that in the good old days petrol was cheaper, but wages were lower too. Being born in 1940, I am a member of the first generation to have a disposable income. The generation before, struggled to put food on the table and keep a roof over their heads. We also all came from single parent families. Our Fathers were away for the first 5 or 6 years of our lives.

I tell my kids how it must have been back in those days, don't think they'll ever realise how lucky they are to be growing up in this day and age.

However, I do worry about the future for them,

It doesn't want to come any lower, it's costing people their jobs.

We have been ripped off for long enough.

LOWER IT AGAIN

Even your train set up in the loft is powered by oil fired power stations, you seen any drop in your monthly bills?
You want to go back and just run on coal?

Yes, because it's been mild outside!
