Is this normal...if so why?

Every time I connect the battery on my Z3 the hazard lights flash constantly, until I press the hazard light switch on then off.
If I disconnect then reconnect the battery after a few minutes it doesn't do it.
I am presuming it is something to do with the alarm, but what? And why?
I have replaced the hazard lights switch, as the old one was 'sticky' and wouldn't release properly, so it isn't that.
The only other thing I have done is remove the central locking receiver PCB from within the rear view mirror and re-connected it elsewhere. There is no aerial for this ATM but the central locking isn't used at present; the car is left unlocked all the time (not connected to the battery 99% of the time.

Any ideas?

I've had the same thing a couple of times. Cycling the hazard stops it, but also so does cycling the ignition.

Weird

I have worked this out....
If the driver's door is open when the battery is re-connected, it fires the hazards. If the door is shut, it doesn't.
Must be something in the crash module programming.

But thanks for all the help!

Wow. 🤯 I’ve been dealing with this exact issue for AWHILE now. You potentially have saved me HOURS of Troubleshooting and pulling modules and switches for no good reason. I’ll try it out. Thanks for keeping us updated on this! I just about jumped when I initially read your post and saw you had the same problem. Appreciate you. 👍🏻👍🏻

As an update....I don't think I was correct. I don't think it is the doors being shut that prevents the 'hazard-gate' issue. I still don't know what causes it as it's not a priority for me at the moment. I don't think it is a fault, as such, though. I am leaning toward something in the crash module thinking the car has had an accident when the power is restored, for some reason. Or it could be the alarm system not liking the power being restored.

My bootlid (trunk) assembly is not connected at present, so it could even be related to this. Don't know (yet).

Thank you for the update! I suspect the control module or alarm as well on my car. I’ve read before it can be linked to a variety of issues such as the stereo alarm (which requires a code), the bonnet switch, the alarm & key fob. I hope you’re able to sort it out! If I have any success or developments I will post.
