Is there a certain type of coolant that is best?

I need to get some coolant for my 2000 Z3 Roadster, and I'm wondering: is there a certain kind I should get?

Type? Brand? Mixture?

Thanks!

Not being a d*ck, but BMW blue is the kind you should get, mixed 50:50 with water (handbook specifies distilled)

It’s marginally more expensive, but for me the difference is negligible for the peace of mind of knowing the right stuff is in there

Cool name btw:thumbsup:

That answer doesn't seem d*ckish at all...sounds like perfectly good advice to me.

One follow-up question: where do I get BMW blue? At a BMW dealership? European car store? Online?

P.S. Thanks! General Zod is actually my Z3's name. (I needed something that started with Z, and when a friend suggested that I thought it was hilarious.)=))

As previously stated use one that meets BMW spec - I use Comma GS 48 which does - available on-line -you can also get it in Halfords.
50:50 mix - you can get it premixed but have never seen the sense in paying for expensive water.

I got mine from my local BMW dealer

Put that in and you should be fine for the drive back to the Phantom Zone. Or Metropolis. Depending on what your plans are..:wideyed:

I have always used the OEM BMW fluid. If you are doing a coolant change that is the best option but if you just want to top up you need to use what is in the car now. It is not a good idea to mix different fluids.

Yeah, def don’t mix coolants! My advice was based on the assumption you were doing a coolant change

I had no idea what was in my mum’s Yaris so topped it up with Prestone universal and it’s been fine
