Is it safe

I can't believe isofix was an option. That is absolutely sh***.

From an age when they added a value to everything that had some intrinsic value (they still do but dare not on safety). If you can sell it, why give it away free!

Smoking package was an option too ....................;) but also many years ago. I see many cars at test time which have a child's seat in one of 4 main seat positions. Very rarely see one using the Isofix system either, usually just held down (badly in most cases) by the 3 point inertia seat belts. People obviously really care about their kids.:(

That hindsight stuff is a rare and valuable commodity. Only after its too late will many realise the purchase cost is way smaller than the value of having the best safety for your kids. Its an insurance policy - Only worth buying the best two seconds after you realise you're going to need it.

People wholly underestimate the energy involved in an accident thinking instead that they (and hence their kids) can brace themselves and emerge unscathed. Rather spend the money on fags and booze no doubt. Darwin awards fodder...

And another thing I'm seeing more and more is a short piece of belt which plugs into one of the seatbelt buckles and it has a dog clip on the other end. OK, I get that this is to help restrain a flying dog (possibly a large dog) in the event of an accident but would you want to be the one to release a panicking dog hanging by it's collar in an overturned car? I wouldn't

Tony.

Ever tried getting a dog into a seatbelt?
Like kids they're not very cooperative.

Good argument for using a cage (for dogs not kids) but I'd need to drive a transit van to get enough space.

I had a look for that switch / button to turn the airbag off :p
But I haven't got it :(

I agree Shelly - if you have a choice there's no point in creating additional risk unnecessarily, however small it might be. Always best keeping tiny tots on the back seat if at all possible. Some day they will wanting to sit in the drivers seat in your car!
