I obviously need to pay more attention at zed meets!
What is the difference in looks between pre-facelift, facelift and wide body Z3s?

There is pre-facelift and facelift models.

Pre-facelift are narrowbody for 1.9 and widebody for 2.8.

All facelift are the same regardless of engine.

Yes just the rear , lights, boot lid, rear panel, bumper, wings and sill panels. Various mixes in the prefacelift and the facelift more of an asslift! Along with clear indicators to the front lights.

I know the question was about looks and has been answered. Don't forget that there were a whole raft of updates under the skin including engines, hood and electrics.

Re: exteriors, there are also the Z3M Roadsters, with smaller wing mirrors, different boot lid, more aggressive front splitter, and different rear splitter for the quad pipes. I believe the rear-ends are all pre-facelift widebody and the exterior didn't change between the two versions that were offered, though not certain as I don't own one (unfortunately :()
