Hi Everyone,

Just dropping in to introduce myself. I'm Rohan and I live in Dubai, UAE, and have recently acquired a 1996 (yep, one of the originals) BMW Z3 Roadster (my 3rd BMW so far). I've been searching for seat bushings to stop the seats from deciding how tall or short I need to be when the g forces in the car change and I found this forum with a fix.

I just wanted to confirm from the seller if indeed he would ship the items to Dubai before I buy and also how easy the job would be (given that I am a first time DIYer as well)

Anyways... Cheers all!

Welcome Rohan!
A great looking Zed, under the Dubai sun!
It's a 1.9 with how many km on the clock?
You need to fix the rear window , to protect the car for dust, because I don't think you are afraid of rain, there!:)

Hi Rohan, from Lincoln UK. Great looking car with the best pale brown interior too just like mine. You must have top down weather almost every day so I'm not at all jealous. Anything you might need to know is right here.:)

Tony.

Hi Rohan and a heartfelt welcome from mid Northern Canada where we're in snow for at least 1/2 the year. I'd like to suggest that you take a bit of time and go through the menu and bring back any other questions you may have. I believe there is an article on how to change your seat bushes that you can follow once you get Aceman's repair kit. Enjoy the car in all that sun. JIM

Hi Rohan,

Lovely looking zed you have there and of course you have the best all year round weather to take advantage of it.

I do indeed ship to UAE and have done several times for other owners with the same problem. If you click on the link in my signature or the shop menu on the tool bar at the top of this page you can order a set by clicking on the "international delivery" PayPal button at the bottom of the page. There are also some links to guides on how to install them which should be sufficient for you to do the job without too much trouble. Delivery usually takes around 10 working days out to UAE but can be quicker sometimes.

If you need any assistance just shout out on the forum as there are plenty that have done this fix not just me.

I'm overwhelmed guys! This is one active forum. Thanks for the warm welcome! I think I'm gonna love it here!

UPDATE (Not so happy news): I autocrossed the car this weekend and 20 secs into my 3rd run shifting into 3rd I suddenly lost all throttle response and seems as though the accelerator cable has come loose or snapped or something!!! and Now the Zed's gonna go in for some TLC

Welcome Rohan!

You bet its fun under the Dubai sun (but only during our "winter" months. The summer sun ... not so much!!!! The temp gauges hit north of 50C (or 122 F) and its good enough to roast me, the interiors, and pretty much everything! So yeah the rear window needs to be done too... and not just for the sand :) gonna put in an order for that too actually so gonna make a laundry list for all the parts I need... and if someone could be kind enough to consolidate the whole lot and send it to the middle east, I would be so grateful....

Thanks so much. I actually use it as a daily driver with the top down these days cause the weather is perfect ... and yeah... I love the pale brown (or beige as has been pointed out ;)) interior gleaming in the sun!

hi welcome from the midlands, wood is different
Thanks for that... I'm not really sure whether the wood is aftermarket or OEM, but it came with the car so.... The vehicle is a Japanese spec though so maybe that'd have something to do with it

Thanks for the message. I used to live upstate New York in Rochester for about 5 years and miss the snow in the sunny middle east (although i'll admit top down motoring does make up for it).... I did see the article on the bushes and just wanted to make sure they'd be shipped to Dubai (which they can be) so i'll be getting that going soon...

Great... thanks for your response. and I'll be getting onto the page and pushing in the order real soon. In the meantime, I was wondering if I could ask a really great favour.... I have a fairly sizable list of things to do to the car including the rear window, seat bushings, and a few other odds and ends... and was wondering (if it isn't to onerous) if I could have all the parts shipped to one place and have the whole bulk of it shipped to the UAE in one go (might save a few $$$ in shipping costs).... and please do feel free to say no if this is inconvenient :)

Thank you... I've always been partial to the beige and its what sold me on this one from the option of 3 Zeds available at the importer's
