Intro

Newbie to the forum and not even an owner...yet.

In my 50's, have always enjoyed cars and have a had a few interesting ones over the years. Lotus Europa, Caterham R500 and currently have an '84 Lotus Esprit Turbo and a recreation of a '73 Porsche RSR/Singer in build. Always liked the Z3M Roadster and thought I might dip my toe in this summer as I don't have a rag top at the moment.

Looking for a good original S50 car with 60k or so on the clock that's been well looked after and not tracked, Preferably with not too many owners. Prefer not to buy from a dealer as they tend to know little about the history of what they're selling. If anyone can help me not to make a mistake it would be very much appreciated.

Thanks Andy, but that's a bit over budget, I was looking at more like £15k to £18k, and the appeal of the Z3M is the raw shed loads of power and no electronic aids. My understanding is that the S54 has TC and there is not much difference in power output.

It looks great, milage good and good service history, but it has had 10 owners which is scaring me off a bit. Is this a major factor?

For 60K I think you need to be increasing your budget if your looking for a minter

Hello and welcome to the forum. Good luck with the search. If the car is in good mechanical and cosmetic condition, with good traceable history and low mileage, there's no need to be put off by the number of owners it's had.

To me it's all about condition and service history (observation and documentation) - most MRs are around/close to 20 years old now. Number of owners and mileage may assist with the assessment, but can mislead either way.
