The new memorial to the International Bomber Command Centre opened at Canwick near Lincoln today.
Misty morning for opening ceremony
When the team at the International Bomber Command Centre (IBCC) chose 12 April for their official opening, they probably didn't expect weather conditions like these:
Temperatures in the low single digits and fog which means you can barely see the top of the new centre's memorial spire seem to be the theme so far today.
Several flypasts are scheduled during the IBCC ceremony which takes place from 11:00.
Organisers will be hoping the skies clear by then so the hundreds of veterans in attendance can watch the aircraft they once flew in.
Centre to honour 'Bomber Boys' opens today
It's been a long time coming, but the International Bomber Command Centre officially opens today near Lincoln.

The site, at Canwick, north of the city, is a memorial to the 55,000 aircrew who died during the Second World War.
More than 300 veterans are expected to be among thousands at today's ceremony.
It follows the unveiling of a spire (above) on the same site several years ago.
Sadly the local weather conditions meant that the planned fly pasts had to be called off.
Tony.
