A Nut splitter... The #zedshed has a great version of that... its called a @GazHyde ... with a hammer or angle grinder.. =))

Useful tool on old cars, I have used it often but the BMW usually seems to come apart without problems.

We've got hydraulic version at work. We use them for cutting steel bars or steel rope.

Thanks @Andy McDonnell , I've never seen this before, I assume you wind in the spear with a socket or spanner and then use a big ring spanner to apply the pressure to the handle to turn off? Or is the idea to cut the nut in half?

Yes mate, it did come with a video clip showing just that, probably on YouTube :thumbsup:
