Who knows a Z3 with lots of miles and still running like a dream.

Keen to know how many miles its up to and what they have done to it to keep it pristine :)

I'm up to 106k and I bought it on 95k, but there are many on here which have gone way past that. Mines literally just had the rear end rebuilt as the sub frame bushes and rear shocks had failed. The shocks look to have been the original factory fitted ones, so well past their best.

The paintwork needs a bit of attention though from previous poor washing standards, and getting a bit of rust showing through on the front edges of the door sills. Interior is pretty good though, just needs the leather scuffs sorting.

I bought her knowing she needed a fair bit of work, but it was a really good deal I got.

Thank you :) That's really helpful. Mines done 86,000 and I am hoping I can still get a lot out of her. She isn't just going to be a weekend car so want to keep her in tip top condition. I am only using her to work and back so will only do around 10 miles a day.

Bought a polishing mitt just now.... Now looking for the best place to get Halo headlights :ymdevil:

If you look on the american sites some of these z3's have gone way past the 200,000 mile mark. The build quality is there so these cars will go on for quite a while.

Weather always takes it's toll on cars. Even a daily driver that is kept garaged will have an extended life by being kept from the harsh frosts of winter.

It's one of the first questions I like to ask when buying a car.

Sadly though not so many are nowadays.

:)

Like the headlights Tony they really suit the black body work as with the DRLs. Bought DRLs for mine a couple of years ago but was so unsure where to fit them or if they were too modern for the car, but after seeing yours maybe I should go find them and get them mounted.

Yes please Tony. If you have the supplier as well that would be most useful :)
Hi Justine and Roy too. These are the very lights I fitted in my car 3 years ago, sourced in the US.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261678083552?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

I was and am very happy with these, in my opinion they transform the look of the car especially losing the orange front indicators.

I also found these which I think are the same but available from Ipswich UK. Slightly more expensive but free shipping.

I have included a couple of pictures of these, and my LED's for you Roy.

Mine is on 130k its a 1.9, runs like clockwork, but i have spent a lot of money on it and treat it better than the kids.

Honestly, keep it well serviced change the oil more regular than service schedules indicate, even if you don't drive it for long periods, like some of us who SORN after the summer. Lubricate all hinges, keep it washed and polished with a good caranuba wax, feed the leather seats and the rubbers of the hood on a regular basis and it will look after you.

They are really easy to fit Justine and the wiring is plug and play. I haven't checked, but the seller in Ipswich may offer a fitting service and wouldn't be too far for you maybe?

Are they? Is it a case of just popping the headlights out and then plugging in and putting in like a tail light?

The headlights are mounted with 4 screws on each, which in turn screw into a plastic nut which screws into the bodywork of the car. These are used to space the light so it fits the body lines properly and just need to be held with a spanner whilst undoing the screws. Wiring is plug and play. I have email the seller up in Suffolk to ask if they have a fitting service, no reply as yet.

So what I've done is bring Trinity from heaven to hell then Rev!! She's sitting outside right now covered in frost, so I'm giving her a slow painful death?? Now I feel soo badd, I should ship her back in a container with my 58 190sl so you can administer first aid and save their lives!! JIM

Hi Jim,

To stay on threads coupe is on 185,000miles at the moment, I've driven it nearly everyday for the last 8 years, putting about 90,000 of those miles on myself.

Other than the cracked boot floor my car has never broken down. Starts first time every time.

Prone to rust on the side sills, front wings by the wheel below the indicator and on the wing mirror bases.

Just get ready to refuel and put new tyres on the rear quite often.

Great cars

(Little man is great thanks Jim, he is 14 months already, can't believe it's his 2nd Christmas! Merry Christmas to you and your family)
