Help! I have two instrument cluster bulbs/holders not working - Odometer and Petrol Gauge. Can anyone help or point me to a source where I can buy please? BWW discontinued selling these in January I believe. Thank you.

David.

Can you post a picture of one David?

This may help i screen shotted this agaes ago from another thread to highlight certain bulb positions for a new member may help with positions of the bulb in question.
Also could be worth pulling out the clocks taking out offending bulbs clean connection refit as could have a bad connection with vibration over the years.

If it is the 3W (501 style) bulb they are replaceable, you don't need the holders (unless they're damaged). I have some. I bought a box of 10 from Andrew Page when I had my Z3.

Hi David

RealOEm: https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=CH32-EUR-09-1999-Z3-BMW-Z3_28&diagId=62_0308

Bulbs:

1.2W: https://www.schmiedmann.co.uk/en/product/1965490-new?product=62-13-1-383-311
1.5W: https://www.amazon.co.uk/instrument-cluster-Bulb-Beige-Socket/dp/B00D03YYUG?ref_=ast_sto_dp
W3W: https://www.schmiedmann.co.uk/en/cata-ol?q=9905358#

You can get LED versions, but lumenance varies. These are not neccessarily the best prices!

Thank you all for helping me - great info as always from members! I will have a go at removing the instrument cluster and see where the problem is. Hope the airbag light stays off!

I replaced the bulbs in my cluster when I first got my car. I followed the instructions on a thread on here, can't find it at the moment, but sure it was from @t-tony

It was Ken.

I may come back to you for some, Tony.

I used a little sucker pad to pull the cluster out after undoing the screws. Like the type you'd use to temporarily stick something to a window or bathroom tiled wall.

it worked really well

If i get an instrument cluster from another car and put it into my car will it work correctly showing correct miles or would it need coding or something?

It will have the wrong mileage and will have a red dot showing that indicates the cluster has been tampered with,
It cannot be turned off 🥺

All I did was fit another cluster and make a note of the mileage difference in the service log. The next MOT made a log of the current mileage, so I wasn't trying to hide anything. I can't see the problem?

Tony.

I replaced my mileometer and odometer bulbs a month ago. I got them off ebay. They came in the holders. The old ones came out with just a twist and the new ones fitted in the same. The original ones are beige for the odometer and mileometer. New ones were black. I managed to remove the instrument cluster enough to change the bulbs without removing the cable plugs from the back.
