As you may have seen on a previous post the interior of my M is currently in the dining room and I am about to fit new carpets. I've decided it is easier to cut around the heater matrix but I've noticed that the throttle pedal sits inside a hole in the carpet and is then attached through to the bulkhead of the car.

Can anyone tell me how I get the throttle pedal apart to fit the carpet without having to cut the carpet around it?

Thanks in advance

If i remember rightly you need to disconnected at the top first the bottom is a clip fit to a metal bar welded to the floor this has 3 holes cut in it and the plastic is a push fit over this and it clicks in with 3 plastic clips.

I thought you were kidding when you posted a pic of a stripped Zed yesterday! Blimey, it didn't take you long to get back from the cruise and destroy your car lol!

Are the new carpets the only reason you decided to strip it down or was there another underlying problem ?

ha ha - I can create a mess very easily !!! Ok so this is as far as it goes... now to remember how to do it in reverse....

And you're doing it outside too!
I hope it looks more drastic than it actually is. No sign of any water in there at all - that's good.

Need to rip out the after market amp and head unit - plus the centre console was broken, little marks everywhere, heater bulbs not working, awful footwell lights. Loads of little things that have always annoyed me so need to strip it right back to get to the wiring and the carpet.. all the other little bits will be addressed as it goes back together... including a retrim of the dash parts.

There is a clip you release behind the pedal, you push it in if memory serves me right. Fiddley, if you can prise the top bar off first it does help.

Thanks - yeah it had to come out it was awful. I've taken pics as I've gone along and soI will put a proper thread together shortly - will definitely make the interior unique - hopefully it will be as good as my imagination is planning ;)

In honesty the carpets were actually wet even though the floor looks alright - It has rained and snowed here today and there is no water in the cabin so hopefully the wet carpets are historical - I intend to have the pipe on it while it looks like this though as it will be easy to see if there is any remaining issues. One thing I have noticed is that the membrane has been removed from the doors behind the door cards and I think this can lead to water ingressing?

Cheers Brian, that confirms so of the information I have found elsewhere to so hopefully I can get that out and not have to cut the new carpet around it.
