My M44 1.9 is due an Inspection One service. Have decided to do it myself this year rather than use an indy as I should have time over Christmas. Following items ordered:
1. OEM oil filter. £12.
2. Five litres Castrol Edge Titanium Sport 0W40. £59.
3. K&N air filter. £60.
4. Spark plugs replaced a couple of weeks ago. £14.

Brake pads/discs are good and hoses etc were fine for last MOT 6 months ago. Coolant and drive belts replaced a couple of months ago.
For interest, sum of the above parts is around £70 less than the Inspection One price quoted by an indy. Also think the above items are likely as good as, if not better than, the indy would have used. Have worked out how to reset the service lights with a wire, dead easy!
Apart from fitting above and lubricating all hinges/locks etc, any other items to service?

Thanks Andy. Brake fluid was changed a year ago (think should be changed every 2/3 years). Will check power steering fluid for level, don't think it is ever changed though?

Dot 4 brake fluid is usually 3 years on most modern cars.
Power steering fluid does not usually require changed at a specific point now as long as level and colour ok should last many years ( my Skoda never had a p/s fluid change in 15 yr and 290k ) still fine every time I look at it .
