Not just me then....I've seen a few Zeds where shorting the pins out doesn't work, in which case a service reset tool isn't that expensive these days.
The circular connection under the bonnet;The service tool you mention. Where does it plug in on a 2002 Z3? I'm new to the car.
Try pin 7 to earth, but you must earth it before you turn the ignition on for 10+ seconds and dont remove the earth until you have switched it off again.I've just tried again shorting 7 to 19 but no joy.
Is the service reset tool just a switch to short the pins or is it more clever than that?
Most of the ones I've seen on ebay have a flat plug, (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Diagnosti...438900?hash=item2cbde4a374:g:OhMAAOSwJ4hY-X~Y) but I have discovered the socket for that is under the dashboard below the steering wheel, helpfully marked "OBD".The circular connection under the bonnet;
OK. Not sure what or indeed why there's a difference but mine is round and connects to the port under the bonnet.Most of the ones I've seen on ebay have a flat plug, (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Diagnosti...438900?hash=item2cbde4a374:g:OhMAAOSwJ4hY-X~Y) but I have discovered the socket for that is under the dashboard below the steering wheel, helpfully marked "OBD".
Yup, that's the one.This looks like Andy's tool, I have something similar which I bought back in about 1992 for my E30 325. I still works on the Zed.
