Just need a few suggestions from you lot if you dont mind.

1. Roof cleaner/paint. What have you used and what can you recommend?

2. Brake calipers. Do i paint them a bright shiny red or leave then black with the wheels?

3. I need so new polish and shampoo. I have alot of maguires gold wax left so I thought to keep with them and use their pre wax polish, anyone tried this?

4. Can you buy the rotating plastic covers for the hardtop fitting kit that cover the holes when the top isn't on? Mine have always been snapped off buy it looks messy.

Roof cleaner as in soft top rather than hard top?

Get it steamed cleaned (by someone who knows how to do it properly) and then waterproof it. No cleaning fluids required.

I've just bought an industrial steam cleaner for, amongst other things, Z3 roofs ;)

I use renovo products for the roof

leave the brakes black ... red brakes are only for big brembo's in my mind.

i use bulk trade shampoo from halfords which foams up nicely and comes in 5 litres for £10, i live in a really hard water area too which means its even harder to get foam going.

I too would either leave the Calibers black or change to silver.
I use AG Shampoo after a pre wash snow foam.
I use Poor Boys sealant for the wheels
Only polish our Zed about every 4 months with a DA after a full detox and use the 3m polishing set and seal the body with Swissvax.

Also if you want to revive the roof then I too use renovo. Then all you need to do is wipe it over when you wash the car

My twopenny worth

1. Roof cleaner/paint. What have you used and what can you recommend?
Used a complete Renovo kit a few years ago and it was very good, cleaner, dye and sealant plus the brushes etc.

2. Brake calipers. Do i paint them a bright shiny red or leave then black with the wheels?
Just did mine red (but more of a blood red that really bright) on a silver zed and I think they look good (personal taste though)

3. I need so new polish and shampoo. I have alot of maguires gold wax left so I thought to keep with them and use their pre wax polish, anyone tried this?
I only use Autoglym because I'm old and set in my ways (works for me though)
4. Can you buy the rotating plastic covers for the hardtop fitting kit that cover the holes when the top isn't on? Mine have always been snapped off buy it looks messy.
Mine are missing as well so I would like to know this too:thumbsup:

Got any photos Niall? I reckon you could be right with going for a darker colour.

I go over with the clay 2 or 3 times a year. Most of the time a good wash and wax is enough.

I too would either leave the Calibers black or change to silver.
Now silver could be an option, not sure ive seen it before. Trial and error..

I think I'll give the poorboys a go, or at least have a good look tonight. I feel a full basket coming on :ymdevil:

I was given that advice by the guy at Soft Tops in Coventry. The difference he made to a crabby looking, stained soft top with the sample area he did in the space of 30 seconds was amazing. It dried dark black having been grey. He actually said to avoid Renovo. Unfortunately he couldn't do the whole roof for me as he'd just put a new rear window in for me and had to use a bit of sealant where the fabric was damaged and it was still wet.
