Hi all,

Has anyone fitted an induction kit to their Zed, if so, which one and what difference has it made and where was it purchased from.
So many types out there so I thought I’d ask what you would recomend.

Thanks

I fitted one to my last Z and IMO its all about induction noise, sounds bloody amazing when fully opened up, not sure if I will fit one to the 2.8 as rolling road results have shown a drop in BHP when one is fitted

Mine has a K&N cone filter and came out 2bhp more than it supposedly left the factory with.

I fitted an open cone Ramair on my Z4. The sound is awesome from inside the car so God knows how it sounds when I floor it to go past someone. Bought it on black Friday deal in 2016 cost circa £50 inc. connector hose.

Mines @ 218 with one fitted may be more without but the more i drive it after the manifold upgrade the car just keeps giving. I thought it used to be peppy @80 mph but now its something else and it sounds great to boot
The simota i have fitted is far bigger than the one for the 2.8 as i modded it to fit as its from a 330ci and has a 90mm outlet that reduces to map. I have try other filters before and the wrong one can definatley make the car very flat.

He doesn't do these kits anymore unfortunately. He sold his Z a while ago to finance house IIRC.

Do you want noise or performance?

If you want noise, use an aftermarket filter.

If you want performance, improve the flow rates on the original and keep the pleated paper filter.

I fitted a BMC enclosed one on my M43. I do agree with the others, the only difference is the sound. Maybe, it's a bit more responsive as you remove all the air channels.

Just removed mine. Yes it sounds good but no noticeable increase in power.
Main reason i took mine off prefer the look with the standard air box plus, in theory could invalidate your insurance if you don't let them know?

Removed mine this year when I fitted the M54 manifold, I always had a strange induction noise just off idle when manoeuvring at low speed maybe related to the DISA operating?
Standard box with some extra holes with a Pipercross element now.
