Had a great run out in the Dales on Monday. Went over to Richmond & then headed up Swaledale where we stopped for a picnic lunch & then on to Muker. We then headed across the Buttertubs pass. We agree with andyglym that this is an superb driving road, though not for the faint hearted with steep hairpin bends a precipitous drop to the side of the road & kamakasi sheep just to keep you focussed. (Check out Andy's film. Would include a link but beyond our computer ability.)
After this we headed back down Wensleydale through Leyburn, Bedale & then home. Beautiful weather, glorious countryside & great roads, good for the soul.

Good to see you getting out in the Zed. We are venturing into N Yorkshire tomorrow Helmsley first then off to Scarborough running out of nice days to take the Zed out. Make the most of what's left of summer

Great pics. Buttertubs clip. Mild version ;)
Thanks Andy, It's about 30 years since last we drove Buttertubs & that was in an Austin Metro. Very different experience in the Z! It was watching your clip that put it back in our minds so on Monday Sue said lets head out that way & see how far we get. Really glad we did & thanks for the inspiration.

 Sue & Ian.

Hi Toby, we've never stopped at the Buttertubs. Don't know if it's the same place but there's a coffee shop in Helmsley that sells great Italian gelatto ice cream.

Hi Ian - Ryeburns do coffee cakes etc. but they are off the beaten track, down a side street leading to car parks IIRC. Rather than in the Square or main street.

LOL @ Andy :D I only stopped at them first time as behind a slow moving vehicle - seemed like a good idea
