I have an illuminating shift knob that I want to install but it didn't come with a connector to connect to the existing connector in my z.

here's a pic of the existing connector under my center console :

I cant seem to find a 2 pin connector to connect to this. My local bmw dealership tried to sell me a 2 pin connector for my fog lights for $50....safe to say I need help. anyone know where I can find the right part?

Probably easier to just buy a 2 pin connector and cut the plug off the power supply and fit the new connectors, something like this.

Try stealing power from the cigarette lighter and shoulder the wires. At least that is what I did in my E46.

I'm pretty sure the cigarette lighter is permanently live on a Z3 so may not be a good idea, (if the OP has a Z3 that is).

It appears he has the supply on the car just the connector on the gear stick is missing.

Excellent remark. Sorry for giving wrong advice!

Illuminated shift knob....haven't seen that before. 99% sure mine is not illuminated, but I don't drive it after dark very often...like maybe once since I got the car in 2016.

If it's on a facelift that's not the correct loom side connector. The connector is much more slim line than that. It's the same type as plugs into the heater panel or ashtray for illumination. I would expect the connector to be there but as it was unused from the factory it's possibly tucked away under the carpet etc.

You can get that style in both illuminated and not. Had both. Just pull the surround down a bit, no wires then not illuminated or wires broken off.

thank you guys for your advice, but I think I may have found the right connector : 61131378107

if this fails as well I'll take nodzed's advice and just replace both ends of the connector.

Did you ever get it connected using the factory harness? I'm looking for my connector like that on a pre-lci z3, and I imagine it's tucked up in the carpet, I'm just not sure where!
