Hi.
Has anyone tried one of these?
I'm looking afor a diag tool for my 2001 Z3 3.0 and it seems this one will make the tea too... and it doesn't need an old computer with a serial port which a lot of these cable and pc software tools seem to require.
My airbag light is on, so I need to sort that, but also want to be able to check engine codes and reset service lights too (without stabbing wires into holes).
It seems that the Z3's are a bit schitzo' when it comes to OBD, so I don't want to throw a chunk of cash at a tool that won't do what I need.

So this is where I get confused.
This one above looks good, but the Z3 isn't obd2 compliant - or at least not from the obd port under the steering wheel.
So will the one simonlincs has bought do abs, airbag and service lights, will it do it with an adapter to plug into the port under the bonnet... or not at all?

Hi @Somersetlandmark if you type in OBD Scanner in the search function there are plenty of threads on various scanners that have been used by forum members, including adapters.

ok, arrived today, super speedy, with the adapter (ordered separately) it works, reads codes etc, not sure it does service reset, I dont think so, but the best price I could find for code reader uk based.

However, having the codes and getting fixed are two different things, see new thread :)

You could always get this http://www.bcables.com/ Full and complete diagnostics for BMWs Load onto any Laptop running Windows 7. You can then reset anything and also code your car to do additional things that are not active upon purchase
