Selling the top ones and just bought the lower ones. I must admit that I prefer the colour of the latter! ;)

Far more stylish, these Z3 owners have no taste!

Don't forget that you need "humped"seat foams. Also replace the diaphragms, use the one piece type rather that the strap type as they are far stronger.

There is an MG parts supplier very near me, who will do four seat foams (humped bases), new webbing or diaphragms, new rear boards and new shiny recliner handles for a really good price as a job lot.

Go for it, just make sure that it is the one piece diaphragm, the strap type always break and don't give much support.
By the time you have removed and refitted the seats a dozen times, you will do anything to avoid doing it again..............ask me how I know!

Has anyone tried to fit Mini R56 seats into their Z3 Rebody? These seats are available at 149EUR each from Ebay.
MGB seats would be preferred for me but it has proven to be next to impossible to find anyone from UK to ship these to mainland Europe at decent cost.

I have a Mini R56 sat outside, so can measure them for you if that helps?

If you can find some MG seats which need a lot of work, maybe ask the seller to remove the foam and just buy the seat frames? If you get GT seats they fold almost in half, so take very little room in a box. Would be a lot easier and cheaper to ship.

Just measured them.
The Mini seats are 540mm (ish) wide with foams attached and the MGB ones are around 460mm at the widest point, so think you will struggle to get the Mini ones to fit and be able to use the seatbelts.

I don't know the width of the Z3 seats as mine are long gone!

Bit of a long shot but maybe somebody on the forum has a z3. Wait. I Do. Hang on a mo.

2 mins later

My original z3 seat cushion at the widest point is around 50cm Add the adjuster switch, trinket tray and plastic it's just around 54cm.

Widest point of the back is also 54 ish.

So they may well fit?!
Only thing is that the R56 seats aren't any more 'retro' than the originals IMO. In fact the earliest R56 was released just as the Z3 went out of production!

Over here they have a brand called FK and I believe that their retro seats would save you a lot of time and money, if you can make them fit.
A friend bought two to use as chairs in his garage and they look quite decent for the price.

I wonder if I could just chop a foot off the top of my standard z3 seats to make the backrest lower.

I’m sure @Pingu has Mini Mayfair black with cream piping seats in his. They actually look quite retro and suit the car well

You're not quite getting this 'rebody' thing are you Andrew?

The general idea is that you throw away all of the airbags and modern junk that saves your life. Head restraints.....first thing to go.

I had a great time last evening grinding off the rollover hoop mounting stanchions on my Z3. I'm sure I could smell 'Brut 33' as I did it! 🤣
